My Recreation Room

Late afternoon light

There is something old world and romantic about a colonial stye bar. It's evocative of cocktails, balmy nights. When we've traveled, these were some of our best nights, dining (not eating) and chatting and playing cards until we couldn't keep our eyes open. Shutters, palm trees, wood furniture, cigars, speakeasies and gaslight lamps. Bangkok and Hanoi remind me of that old world charm, as does Round Hill resort in Jamaica.

We are planning to pull down the drop ceiling and expose the beams on the ceiling, and just paint it black. I will also remove the carpeting throughout and addend flooring throughout.

In terms of usage, we wanted this room to be more of a recreation room that flowed through to the deck and the fire pit. I imagine pouring a drink, then walking out to the deck, or roasting some marshmallows. Perhaps a couple of small chairs or a leather couch for seating, but definitely would like room for a foosball table.
