New York apartments aren’t known for being particularly large. Some would argue the best solution comes when you think outside of the box, which is exactly what a recent Decorilla client did. They presented Decorilla with the challenge of combining two apartments to create one larger luxury apartment design online.
THE CHALLENGE
- Combine two apartments into one large luxury apartment
- Quality furniture without the custom furniture timeline
- Create a contemporary and cohesive feel throughout the apartment
THE INSPIRATION
It was clear that clean lines and an airy color palette were a common theme in the client’s inspiration photos. In addition, the mix of neutral colors and multiple textures keeps with the contemporary feel the client is wanting to accomplish. This gave the Decorilla designers a great starting off point to start designing the new apartment.
THE DESIGN
The client chose between multiple initial proposals from Decorilla’s designers for their condo interior design help. After some contemplation, they went with Mladen C’s design concept. He was able to capture a cozy feel without compromising the overall contemporary vibe. They were thrilled with the effect.
THE INITIAL MOODBOARD
Mladen was sure to keep furniture quality in mind when selecting the pieces for each space. He made sure items were readily available and didn’t include long ordering times. The simple color palette is complimented by the addition of the gold accents creates the luxurious feel the clients were looking for.
THE RESULT
Certainly the new apartment design doesn’t lack personality! The mix of textures and patterns with the throw pillows compliments the over sized leather sectional perfectly. The floor to ceiling drapery is great for not only making the space feel larger, but also providing the much needed privacy every New York apartment needs.
Every detail of the design was well thought through. From the custom fireplace design to the accent ceiling lights there are so many details that come together to make the space feel so sophisticated.
In addition, the dining area features white leather chairs that can be cleaned with ease. The brass accents are the icing on the cake when it comes to making the space feel luxurious.
While most of the space was kept neutral, Mladen chose to add pops of color with art. The addition of wallpaper in the hallway helps define the space and let it shine on its own.
When designing small spaces it’s important to make sure all of the needs are being met. It’s important to have the oasis you want while not having to compromise on your privacy. The headboard wall acts as the separation between the master bedroom and the bathroom/closet.
Equally important is the walk in closet design. Ordinarily in New York City apartments it’s hard to find large walk in closets because the space is needed for different reasons. Mladen was able to figure out how to maximize the space and merge an oasis of a bedroom with a dreamy walk in closet.
