Heather P.
Describe your go-to style:
My style always responds to the environment I'm designing within and the uniqueness of the person I have the opportunity to design for. A living room in a prewar walk-up for a party girl in Brooklyn wants a very different treatment than a newly built loft for a single dad in downtown LA. That being said, I'm trying to invent a new way of saying "bring the outdoors in" because it ALWAYS works, and I always use it.
Tell us your biggest design secret:
My best design secret - use the words "successful, or unsuccessful" in place of "pretty, or ugly" . It removes the danger of falling prey to a trend, and puts the focus on the individual needs of your client.
From where do you draw most of your inspiration?
I've been inspired by everything from a matchstick (that red with natural wood!) to Neuschwanstein castle. My main source of inspiration, though, is the outdoors - both the curated and the wild. It's were my best ideas about color combinations, lighting, and textures come from.
