Michelle C
Michelle has a BA in Architecture with a focus on Baroque Italian art and architecture and Post-modernism. She has worked as a designer for architects, interior designers and furniture designers in Philadelphia, New York, and Boston.
Michelle is a strong believer in the architectural ideology of “form follows function.” She believes that the key to a successful design is optimal spacial planning. When a room is properly laid out it can begin to describe things like scale, materiality and color distribution. She wants her clients to get the most out of their design experiences so they can enjoy their functionally sophisticated spaces.
What drives you to design?
Every room I'm ever in inspires me to design. It either needs help, and I think of ways it could be fixed, or its done well and it gives me ideas on how to fix the other ones.
Describe your ideal project:
My ideal project is an empty mill building. That have sturdy structures, big windows, high ceilings, and tend to be open concept. It's the most freedom one could get in designing an existing interior space.
Tell us your biggest design secret:
Pick out the neutral tones first. As much as you may love the bold accents, remember that the neutrals tend to be the anchors. It also leaves the room open to changing the pops of color later if the right neutral is chosen for the feel you want
